The University of Michigan Solar Car Team is an entirely student-run organization that designs, builds, and races solar electric vehicles. Since its establishment in 1989, the team has built 18 vehicles.

Millennium is an ode to our team’s past—to all those who, over our 35 years of history, have shaped what the University of Michigan Solar Car Team is today. We aim to honor them by continuing to innovate and push the boundaries of solar racing.

Millennium showcases breakthrough engineering and represents decades of overcoming challenges and learning from our past.

There’s a bit of all our past cars in Millennium. From our original Sunrunner to Astrum, Millennium weaves together our entire history and journey of learning. It showcases breakthrough engineering and embodies decades of overcoming challenges and learning from our past. 

Millennium stands on the shoulders of its predecessors with one objective: Winning the 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
